The Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in the heart of Helsinki showcases modern art and is the centre of visual culture as well as a meeting place. Kiasma’s programme includes theme exhibitions created from the museum’s own collections, as well as inspiring temporary exhibitions.
The design of the building is based on the human body, which serves as the foundation of the proportions of space. The museum’s floors are joined together by a multitude of ramps. The annual temporary exhibitions of the museum showcase both domestic and foreign modern art. In addition to traditional paintings, the collection includes installations, media art, environmental and online pieces as well as new art produced by Kiasma.
The diversity of exhibitions enables the museum to reach a variety of people. The live art experience is created by the mix of exhibitions, the Kiasma Theatre and various forms of public information, workshops and events!
