The exhibition at the WeeGee building takes visitors on a trip from prehistoric times to modern Espoo. A Trip Through Time in Espoo tells the story of how a small rural community grew into a major coastal city in the Uusimaa region.
The exhibition moves from prehistoric abodes discovered in Espoo to the Middle Ages and the stories of the peasant from Kauklahti and the lady of the Gräsa Manor. Skilful interpretation by actors brings the period to life in the audio guide.
The construction of the old stone church of Espoo is depicted by a miniature model. The life of the manors and the industrial evolution are described in detail, not forgetting the local artists and moonshine vendors. The exhibition is brought to modern times and the second largest city in Finland by cross-country skier Marjo Matikainen’s medals and javelin thrower Tiina Lillak’s javelin.
KAMU provides a variety of programmes as well as annual temporary exhibitions.
