Gammelgården, founded in 1936, gives a good view of old construction techniques previously used in the region with its in excess of 20 different buildings. The buildings have been moved here from different parts of Ingå. The impressive main building from Illans village was built in 1772. There are comprehensive item collections that relate to the interiors of the buildings, but also to, for instance, fishing and agriculture. The museum additionally holds collections of pictures and textiles. An old school building is used as an exhibition and conference venue.

The local Martha Association arranges a Handicrafts Day at Gammelgården each year in July, with a wide variety of craft demonstrations and displays.

The museum is owned by the municipality, but the administration of of the museum is principally carried out by Ingå Museum and Homestead Society.
