EMMA is located in the exhibition centre WeeGee, which is a revitalised former printing house. The ferroconcrete and glass-based industrial facility and its 5,000 square metres serve as the canvas for the museum’s modern and contemporary art collection.
Half of the space is occupied by the art collection of the Saastamoinen Foundation, a significant portion of which is always open to the public. The collection features Finnish and classic Modernism from the early 20th century, as well as modern art from Finland and abroad.
The temporary exhibitions display high-quality art, which aspires to elicit discussion and activate the crowd. The facility provides exhibitions, events and media art performances. EMMA also provides experience-oriented tours and supplementary activities.
