Back in the old days, roads were scarce and in bad condition. Horse-drawn carts did not start becoming common until the 17th century. While various two-wheeled carts gained popularity in the 19th century, finer carts remained the exclusive right of wealthier peasants. East Uusimaa Coach Museum presents horse-drawn vehicles mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries.

The collection was compiled and displayed at Suur-Sarvilahti in 1982 but moved to Lurens, Hardom, in 2007. Among other things, the collection includes a horse-drawn two-wheel cart, horse cab and field cart. Also displayed are two- and four-horse carts from the East Uusimaa region. Some of the carts have been renovated, while some are in their original condition. The museum also exhibits farrier’s tools, bells, bridles, harnesses and a smaller selection of horseshoes.
