The move of author Juhani Aho and painter Venny Soldan-Brofeldt to the villa they named Ahola in 1897 was the beginning of the community of artists of Lake Tuusula. The couple’s long-term home exhibits the lifetime work of these two artists.
 
The Finnish national author Juhani Aho turns out to have been a vigorous outdoor man who has left behind fishing gear, a backpack made of birch bark he carried on his excursions and a pair of skis in the museum. There is a diverse display of books by this folk depicter and social thinker, including publications that were forbidden at the time or published under a pseudonym.
 
Venny Soldan-Brofeldt was a visual artist influential in the art education circles and the feminist movement. A skilful sketcher, she could instantly capture insightful moments on paper, such as her sketchbooks reveal. There are also book illustrations, small sculptures and jewellery on display.
 
The ticket office also has a small museum shop and a café.
