There is a place near Vantaankoski Rapids where you can see a hundred-year-old thresher and a horse-driven library carriage! The falu red building of Vantaa Agricultural Museum conceals a piece of the region’s agrarian past. The museum unveils the secrets of a creamer, the operating principle of millstones and the abundant tools of the village shoemaker.
The many changes that took place in agriculture during the 20th century come alive on a tour of local history. The nostalgic tools and everyday items collected in the museum reflect life in days gone by and hard daily work. The museum also features an annually changing special exhibition of one of the old villages in Vantaa.
Standing proud on its four wheels, the first exhibit of the museum is a Ford tractor manufactured in Detroit in 1926 and used around Tikkurila. In addition to a steam locomobile, stationary engine and many other mysterious tools, children may admire natural-size workhorses Veikko and Pålle.
