Porlammi School Museum is housed in an old school building dating from 1872. The old classroom oozes with the school atmosphere of yore with its lectern, blackboard and harmonium.
There are more than 200 old educational pictures, including plant pictures created by Ebba Masalin and other pictures that were used in teaching natural sciences. The atmosphere is augmented by slates, a 19th century desk and chair and other desks from different decades. The classroom also exhibits old handicraft manuals with model drawings for girls and boys, dating from the early 20th century.
On the walls, presidents’ photographs and an old map of Finland remind visitors of past times. Stuffed birds are part of the classroom paraphernalia. All that is needed to start the lesson are the teacher and the pupils.
