The Museum of Finnish Architecture, which is located in the Kaartinkaupunki quarter of Helsinki, provides new perspectives on architecture through exhibitions that cover the past, present and future of the constructed environment.
The permanent exhibition covers Finnish architecture of the 20th century through small-scale models and abundant photographic material. The characteristics, materials and technical solutions of each period are presented in the exhibition, which takes the visitor from National Romanticism represented by the first domestically trained architects to Classicism, Functionalism, Modernism, and all the way to the 1970s.
The exhibitions are supplemented by lectures, workshops and other events. The museum also provides a public archive and the most comprehensive library specialising in architecture in Finland.
