The Gas Mask Type 39 was developed in Finland during the Second World War. The rubber part was manufactured by the predecessor of Nokia, Suomen Gummitehdas Oy. First the masks were assembled in Kalevankatu 31, but after the Finnish Gas Protection Association’s mask assembly line was damaged during the bombardments on the first day of the war, the production was transferred to Vaasa.
